Street Style Wear: Chapter 4: Countries and base aesthetics INDIA

Street Style Wear:

Chapter 4: Countries and base aesthetics
INDIA

Okay, we already know street style wear is a mix of genres, but what we don’t know yet is that there is one particular aesthetic that is the most influential of all, a genre that has a huge impact on street style wear, genre that majority thinks is the most beautiful of all, genre that creates the base to street style wear, fluctuating from country to country.

Every country has a history of its own which is the primary factor in creating the fashion framework of that country, through which the country sets its beauty standards and thus have a particular set of things that are considered beautiful there, forming a base aesthetic of that country.

Fact to remember:  A base aesthetic is always gender neutral.

India and its base aesthetic i.e. Bohemian

No matter which part of the country you belong to, which idol you worship, what socio-economic class you fall in, what celebrity you follow, what personality you hold, you just cannot unhold of the fact that we always choose

  • Jewels over minimalism,
  • Prints over plain,
  • Handcrafted over machine made
  • Flowers over geometric patterns,
  • Curly over straight hair

But why BOHEMIAN?

Cultural history:

It’s not the people, neither the events

It’s the art I’m talking about.

Indian art that can be seen via its architecture, literature, music, ancient ornaments, jewelry, outfits, etc. We are conditioned to love all things boho since childhood, when we saw our moms draping those beautiful sarees and for them when they saw theirs. Stating facts here:
We all have a part of us that is BOHO.

Accessibility:

China may be the largest manufacturer of garments but made in India bohemian garments are to die for. Guess why Sarojini Nagar is filled with so many Bohomian pieces? Because India manufactures Boho garments the most.

Bohemian pieces are available everywhere in this country; wherever we go, we will find bohemian clothes. And if you are still not convinced think about it, we have a whole market based on this aesthetic, Janpath market, Delhi.

Influential people:

India is the most diverse country in terms of everything and every set of people has its own set of influencers. So how does it work if we have so much variety? So here is the answer, influencers and trends have a direct relation.

Graphically explaining,

Further explaining;

Let’s take perspex heels for instance; because perspex heels got trending, all influencers were wearing them and because all influencers were wearing them, they got trending.

And Bohemian aesthetic is never not trending in India.

I hope this blog clarifies, why you have a strong inclination towards bohemian genre.

And I really hope you like it
